As we have been binge watching the 'Doc Martin' TV series I decided to make my wife a small present. The Doc's surgery at Portwenn - better known as Doc Martins house - in real life Fern Cottage - Port Isaac - Cornwall.
Using a reference photo downloaded off the internet I chose T018a Lock Keepers Cottage from Scalescenes.com as the donor kit for this project.
I also purchased suitable replacement textures from the Scalescenes section of the site.
The basic house is almost the same size as the lock keepers cottage so I only needed to incorporate small differences such as the side window and extra door. Most of the differences are the visual textures - so that's what I concentrated on most.
The red brick window surrounds and details were used from another photo of the actual building as were the window blinds and front door.
I scratch-built a porch lamp, alarm and the Doc's surgery plaque.
There are minor inaccuracies such as the colour of the gutters etc - but you get the idea.
... so now I only need to build the rest of 'Portwenn'
